Circus Cirkör has three core values: Collective Commitment, Quality Madness and Collective Individualism

Cockiness is the brain of the core value and stands for the critical examination, that is, to put the world in an investigative and questioning perspective.

Commitment is the heart of the core value. Let yourself go, relying on an internal compass. To want a lot and to pursue all the way, even when facing resistance. The commitment required to turn a no into a yes and a problem into an opportunity.

We need cocky commitment to dare to break barriers and find our own way. The cockiness ensures that we are grounded in what we do. The commitment Ensures that the dreams are realized. As leaders, you do not make life easier by encouraging your employees or students to a cocky commitment. It is like asking for trouble! But on the other hand, it is an effective counterforce to stagnation and resting on your laurels. It compels us to evolve.

Mere commitment makes it easy to get lost in someone else’s vision, or to burn out because you keep on fighting although you have reached a dead end. With only cockiness, it is easy to become an »opinion machine» who only has opinions and the »knowledge of what should be done», but who has not got the spark to ensure that it is done. But when opinions come from a commitment they develop the organization, the operations, and at best, the world. When we had outgrown our Stockholm base and started looking for a party that wanted to work long-term with our art form as a development tool, we found the Municipality of Botkyrka.

Because of our joint venture, Cirkus Cirkör now has a locally anchored base with enough power to get us out into the world. The municipality has gotten 200 new residents, 40 new companies and associations linked to the circus and creative industries a college and a national upper secondary program, festivals and guest performance programs, an internationally established circus centre and an increased pride among the residents. This cooperation has been filled with cockiness and friction, but with the commitment of both parties the friction is bearable and the collaboration can reach further than would otherwise have been possible. Cocky commitment is Cirkus Cirkör’s definition of democracy.
