Collective Individualism

Circus Cirkör has three core values: Collective Commitment, Quality Madness and Collective Individualism

Collectiveness stands for our will to work together despite our great diversity and strong individuality. Choosing to take responsibility for ourselves, each other, and the whole world.

Individualism is to be the best at being who you are. The right and obligation to be authentic, both as an individual and as an organization. Everyone should have the right to be as special, unique, and peculiar as they are.

With collective individualism, 1 + 1 can become 15, 150 or 150 000. Cirkus Cirkör’s program Cirkuspiloterna was based on 50 individual students from eleven different countries, who on a full-time basis trained their own variations of seven circus disciplines and five artistic subjects with teachers from seven countries speaking five different languages.

For the common idea, there was undeniably a need for great collectiveness in the students’ performance productions. At the same time, the individual cutting-edge needed equal space. In their performance work, both students and teachers learn that in working together with others, the individual can contribute to creating magic. In some cases, collectivity is hard to achieve, as between business units or between administrations. Internal cooperation takes time, but it pays off. Your own activities as well as the whole, benefit from access to more competence, facilities, materials, ideas, commitment and contacts.
