Sustainable circus

The circus arts have guided and inspired us in everything we do and are an inexhaustible toolbox for our artistic and educational work. Our core values of cocky commitment, quality madness and collective individualism permeate Cirkör's entire organization.

Sustainability in society and the environment

Since Cirkör was founded, the desire to work educationally has been as strong as the artistic drive. Cirkör has done investigative work and has been the driving force behind several social projects. We have brought the circus into collaborations with schools, care for the elderly, people with disabilities and youth groups. Through these projects and the investigative method used, we have obtained the tools and expertise we work with in our daily operations.

Environmental thinking has existed in the organization for a long time and has taken on a more structured form in recent years. At Cirkus Cirkör there is an environmental group of 5 people who have regular meetings and report to the management team.

UN Global Compact

In 2015, Cirkus Cirkör applied and was approved as a signatory to the UN Global Compact. This means we follow their 10 human rights, labour law, environment, and anti-corruption principles for sustainable businesses. The work has been reported since 2017 in Cirkör's annual report. Previously, the result was written in a separate sustainability report.

Climate compensation

Cirkus Cirkör's business is based on touring worldwide with our performances, which means a lot of air travel. Following our vision "to change the world with contemporary circus", we try to take greater responsibility for a more sustainable society by climate compensating all air travel. We compensate by investing in solar cells that contribute to more renewable energy, a concrete and long-term climate-improving project. Solar cells produce energy for at least 25 years.

To raise awareness of the problem of aviation's environmental impact, we aim to draw attention to the issue when we sign contracts with external parties. To the places we cannot avoid flying, we intend to share the compensation cost between us and the organizer. For other trips, total compensation is provided by Cirkör.

You can read more about how we worked with sustainability in our sustainability reports, which are part of our Annual Reports.
