Silks

  • What is Silks?

Aerial Silks is a discipline within the category of aerial acrobatics. The fabric is often made of elastic silk or velvet, with a length ranging from 8 to 16 meters, hanging vertically from the ceiling.

The artist uses strength and flexibility to perform nearly impossible positions. Aerial Silks can be practised both statically and dynamically. Static involves performing tricks in stillness and balance. In contrast, dynamic involves movements in various types of swings at a tempo, swiftly and smoothly transitioning through different positions, with the artist occasionally releasing the fabric entirely only to catch it again later.
